Two out of three employees at MP bolagen trained in MHFA

At MP bolagen, we have been training our employees in Mental Health First Aid, MHFA, since 2018. Today, 91 employees have completed the training, which corresponds to 66 per cent of our staff. MHFA, Mental Health First Aid, can be likened to first aid for physical injuries, but with a focus on mental health. The training provides knowledge on how to recognise signs of mental ill-health, how to initiate contact, offer support, and help a person move on to professional help.

We have received a lot of positive feedback from our employees who have completed the MHFA training. The employees feel that it is easier to talk about mental health issues in the workplace and there are greater opportunities to notice signs from colleagues who are struggling with mental health.

To see, ask and act

For us, education is about creating a workplace where we see each other, dare to ask how someone is feeling, and have the knowledge to act when someone needs support.

But the knowledge does not stay at the workplace. It follows home, to the family, community life, and other people we meet in our daily lives.

We are proud of 91 trained employees. But above all, it is about the knowledge and security that exists among our employees when someone in our vicinity needs support.

The mental health of employees is an important part of our responsibility as an employer. Through the MHFA training, we provide more employees with the knowledge and confidence to recognise mental ill health, offer initial support and guide them to professional help. It is a concrete investment in a safe and sustainable workplace.

Part of a larger investment in Vetlanda

Our work is at the same time part of a long-term investment in mental health in Vetlanda. All municipal administrations and municipal companies in the municipality have been awarded diplomas in MHFA, and since 2016, around 3,400 people have been trained.

According to NASP, Vetlanda is therefore the first in the world outside Australia to diplomate all municipal administrations.

We are proud to be part of the initiative and congratulate all those who have worked for many years to make mental health a natural part of both working life and society.
