Farstorps Gård – part of MP bolagen

In 1968, MP bolagen purchased Farstorps Farm, located in Nye, a few miles outside Vetlanda. Agriculture was close to company founder Werner's heart, and the farm is still run by MP bolagen today.

Farstorps farm

A rationally driven agricultural and forestry farm, focused on milk and meat production. The barn has loose housing and a modern feeding system for silage and hay with computerised feed rationing. With two robots, more cows can be milked regularly, providing a consistent milking flow throughout the day. Each milking is closely monitored using advanced technology that records milk volume, quality, and cow health in real-time.

This system saves time, improves the working environment, and ensures high and consistent milk production. At the same time, more time is created for supervision and care of the animals, which benefits both the farm and the cows.

Total area:

720 ha

Agricultural land:

170 ha

Milk and meat production

The livestock consists of approximately 260 animals, with 100-120 being milking cows. Milk production is about 10,000 kg per cow per year. The dairy herd is SRB. A total of approximately 1,200,000 kilos of milk is produced annually.

Contrary to what many believe, milk production involves a significant amount of technology. Modern farming uses advanced technology to streamline the process, monitor animal health, and create a more sustainable production environment. Technology plays a crucial role in creating a balance between efficiency and care for both the animals and the environment.

Harvest and field chopping

In addition to harvesting cereals, field chopping is also carried out. This involves chopping, for example, grass, herbs, and corn that will be used as feed. This is typically then placed in round bales that you can see in the fields. Farstorps Gård now uses a horizontal silo instead of round bales, thereby saving about 2,000 kilos of plastic per year. In addition, transport of round bales from the fields to feeding is reduced.
